Berri says Hezbollah 'has not ended'
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has stressed that “Iran is a friend of Lebanon and will remain so based on its active role in the region.”
“Hezbollah has not ended and remains one of the biggest parties in Lebanon despite everything it has suffered,” Berri added, in an interview with An-Nahar newspaper.
“Things cannot be run this way with a political component and a major sect in the country,” the Speaker said.
Saying he was not surprised by “this attack” on Larijani and the rejection of his visit “based on a foreign order implemented by a domestic lobby,” Berri said “if the opponents can prevent his arrival, let them try.”
“If there is opposition to the Iranian statements based on the notion that they harm Lebanese sovereignty, we call for looking very well into the statements of U.S. officials and others,” the Speaker added.
Denying that he had agreed to the government’s decision on Hezbollah’s disarmament plan, Berri told An-Nahar: “All I asked for was postponing the first cabinet session from Tuesday to Thursday, but they did not listen.”

I am sick and tired of seeing everyone sucking up to Berri. Berri is as guilty as HizbIran in destroying & bankrupting Lebanon, eroding our freedom & sovereignty & turning our land into Iranian rocket base. He supported Hizb wars. He closed parliament to prevent international court, ruined Downtown Beirut businesses, covered up Hizb assassins, and worse, he is the dean of political mafia. Brining him to court, put him in prison for corruption & let Amal pick a true successor to Imam Moussa Saddr that was one of Lebanon’s great leader with the same upbuilding, constructive and unifying spirit as Hariri (Berri is opposite to Imam Saddr in every respect).

Amal had a true successor to Imam Moussa Saddr, Hussein el-Husseini. He cofounded “Harakat al-Mahrumin” ie “Amal“, with Saddr . El-Husseini was driven to resign the leadership of Amal in 1980 by Hafez al-Assad, because el-Husseini opposed Amal becoming more involved in the civil war. He was replaced with Nabih Berri. El-Husseini was pushed out as Parliament Speaker after the parliamentary elections of 1992 due to Syrian pressure, after he refused to include two pro Syrian candidates on his electoral list. As usual the Syrians replaced him with non other than their main man, Nabih Berri.

A two headed snake, he uses one to speak to the Shiite community the other to talk to all rest of the Lebanese. One to bully and threaten like a thug, Mafioso and the head of a militia, with the other he takes advantage of his position as Parliament Speaker to speak to foreign diplomats and envoys and to pass himself as a statesman. Berri forgot the way Hezbollah and Michel Aoun with his blessing, treated the Sunnis, a major sect and political component. Berri forgot that he was tasked by Hezbollah to beg the U.S for help. Berri forgot that he and Hezbollah accepted Amos Hochstein's last chance take it or leave it ceasefire offer. The so called Shiite duo thought that after the fighting ended, there was wiggle room. They were wrong. A weaponised Hezbollah has ended, the Shiite community can decide if it has a political future.
