Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat stated sarcastically on Friday that he will add the Syrian summons issued against him Thursday to the "folder" of Syrian judicial suits he already has.

He humorously added that he will then distribute them to his friends.

France Says Toulouse Gunman's Sister May be Fighting in Syria

The sister of al-Qaida inspired gunman Mohamed Merah who killed seven people in and around Toulouse has  left France and could be fighting in Syria, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said Friday.

French authorities lost track of 35-year-old Souad Merah in March when a school at which one of her children was studying alerted them that the pupil had failed to turn up for several days.

Four Malaysians Charged over Promoting Syria Terrorism

Malaysian courts on Friday charged three men and a woman from the Muslim-majority country over promoting terrorism in strife-torn Syria.

The four were among 11 Malaysians arrested since late last month in an operation to crack down on Islamic terror suspects, who using claims of humanitarian work as cover.

Rebel Mortar Fire Kills 21 at Assad Election Rally

Syrian rebels shelled a rally in support of President Bashar Assad's re-election, killing 21 people, after his troops cut a key rebel supply route to the main northern city of Aleppo.

Mortar fire, which hit a tent where Assad supporters had gathered in the southern city of Daraa late Thursday, also wounded at least 30, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Ban Report Slams Syria Aid Access for Third Time

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Thursday that humanitarian access in Syria was worsening, blaming the government in particular but also armed rebels in a third report on the matter.

Ban said Damascus was still stopping aid convoys from crossing into Syria from Iraq, Jordan and Turkey in violation of Security Council Resolution 2139 adopted in February.

Watchdog Says Last Syrian Chemicals Packed and Ready

The last of Syria's chemicals agents are packed and ready to be taken to Latakia port and out of the country when the security situation permits, the world's chemical watchdog said Thursday. 

"Some 100 metric tonnes of chemicals, or nearly 8 percent of Syria’s declared stockpile, remain at a single site," Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) head Ahmet Uzumcu told a meeting of the body's Executive Council at headquarters in The Hague.

China and Russia vetoed Thursday a draft U.N. Security Council resolution to refer Syria to the International Criminal Court for crimes committed by both sides in the three-year civil war.

Western powers pressed for the resolution in the face of mounting atrocities in Syria, including chemical attacks, systematic torture, barrel bombings and blocked aid access.

Moscow Reiterates It Will Veto U.N. Resolution on ICC for Syria

Russia will veto a draft U.N. Security Council resolution that calls for bringing Syria before the International Criminal Court, Moscow's ambassador said Wednesday.

Vitaly Churkin dismissed the French initiative, which is to be put to a vote on Thursday, as a "publicity stunt" and said it would undermine efforts to find a political solution to the conflict in Syria.

Dutch Syria Fighter Arrested Planning 'Jihad Heist'

Dutch police have arrested a 21-year-old man who fought in Syria as he was allegedly about to commit an armed robbery "to finance jihad", the public prosecutor said on Wednesday.

The man spent six months in Syria last year "taking part in jihad" fighting President Bashar Assad's regime, the prosecutor said in a statement.
