Two rockets fired on Sunday from the Eastern Mountain Range (on the Lebanese-Syrian border) landed on the outskirts of the Bekaa Valley towns of Hawr Taala.

According to a communique issued by the army command, no casualties were reported.

Several rockets fell on the Bekaa towns of Hermel and Arsal on Saturday evening without causing any fatalities.

LBCI television reported that two rockets launched from the Eastern Mountain Belt fell on the outskirts of Hermel.

A number of rockets fired from the eastern mountain range landed on Friday in the Bekaa region of al-Hermel, reported the National News Agency.

Al-Jadeed television said that three rockets landed in an uninhabited area in Hermel without causing any injuries or damage.

The army arrested on Monday three fugitives in the eastern Bekaa town of Hermel, and seized hashish and weapons in their possession.

"We have detained Zakaria Hussein Nassereddine, Mohammed Jihad Shamas and Abbas Abdullah Dandash who are wanted on several arrest warrants,” the military institution said in a communique.

Four soldiers were injured in a gunbattle that erupted with men from the Chamas family in the eastern Bekaa town of Hermel.

According to Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) four soldiers were injured at dawn in an exchange of fire with men from the Chamas family.

Four rockets struck two areas in the Bekaa region on Wednesday, causing no casualties.

Two rockets fired from the Eastern Mountain Belt on the Lebanese-Syrian border landed in agricultural fields in the al-Aqidiyeh area near the central Bekaa town of Beit Shama, causing no casualties, state-run National News Agency reported.

Hizbullah is experiencing a surge in recruitment as it fights alongside Syrian President Bashar Assad's troops in Syria, members of the group have told London's Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper said that two Hizbullah members separately said there had been an increase in the number of men willing to fight in Syria.

President Michel Suleiman offered his condolences on Sunday to the victims of Saturday's bombing in the Bekaa region of Hermel.

He said: “The army has become the main target of terrorist attacks.”

The United States' embassy in Lebanon condemned Saturday's deadly explosion at an army checkpoint in the Bekaa town of Hermel, reiterating Washington's support for the military institution.

"We condemn the bombing and we consider that an attack on the Lebanese Armed Forces is an attack on all Lebanese,” the embassy said in a statement released on Twitter.

Several local leaders and politicians on Saturday were quick to condemn the latest explosion in the Bekaa town of Hermel, soon after a suicide attack claimed the life of several troops and civilians at an army checkpoint in al-Assi bridge area in the village.

Prime Minister Tammam Salam deplored the “terrorist” attacks, considering that targeting the military institution is an act against a cornerstone in the country.
