Report: US suspends cooperation with army to press for Haykal's removal

The United States has suspended its coordination with the Lebanese Army in an effort to increase pressure for the removal of the army commander, Rodolphe Haykal, the L'Orient-Le Jour newspaper has learned from several diplomatic sources.

However, such a measure is rejected in Lebanon as the war continues.

International actors have reportedly intervened to prevent any harm to the army commander at this stage, the report added.

It also said that the United States sent a clear message to Beirut on Tuesday: "Disarm Hezbollah and begin direct negotiations with Israel," to which Lebanon is trying to respond.

It would be the best possible thing that could happen to and for the Lebanese Army: to stay far away from the Pentagon.

Aoun has zero credibility, Haykal a disgrace to army & national defense. One key question: If experts confirm Lebanese army could have disarmed HizbItran a year ago and Aoun did nothing, AOUN AND HAYKAL ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TODAY DESTRUCTION & SHOULD BE COURT MARTIALED. A year ago, Hizb was totally exposed as an Iranian brigade worshiper of mass murderer Khamenei, Syria was liberated. Arab & world designated Hizb as terrorists, Iran was weak & Hizb arm depots hit. Impossible for army to lose when supported by people & the world. Disarming Hizb would have prevented this war, protected Shia villages & restored respect & honor to our brave army. Also billions would be saved by preventing destruction, attracting investment, improving credit rating & lowering debt interest. Since assassinating Hariri & M14 Martyrs, Hizb cost to our economy is hundreds of billions pushing 2 million Lebanese into poverty. Hizb & puppets must be brought to justice!
