March 8 camp MPs took turns on Wednesday in defending the government on the second day of the session aimed at assessing its work.
Development and Liberation bloc MP Ghazi Zoaiter defended the government’s decision to distance itself from regional affairs, saying that such a position guarantees Lebanon’s neutrality and its equidistance from all sides.
He continued: “Shouldn’t those demanding respecting the constitution oppose the smuggling of arms to Syria and stop their criticism against the army?”
Addressing the government, the MP stated: “Apply the law and respect agreements because hesitation will not benefit you.”
“Hesitation leads to wars,” warned Zoaiter.
In addition, he said that the rise of the state begins with a comprehensive development plan.
Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad then took to the podium, noting that the successes and failures of the current government are linked to the previous ones.
“It is hard to separate the assessment of this government from those of the past,” he added.
“This government succeeded in maintaining stability while other sides sought to target it,” he said.
He was then followed by Change and Reform bloc MP Ziad Aswad who said: “We are standing before a plan aimed at monopolizing power and changing Lebanon’s identity.”
“Some sides in Lebanon are seeking to eliminate its uniqueness and coexistence among its people,” he added.
Fellow Change and Reform bloc MP Nabil Nicolas also addressed parliament, saying that the “construction of the state cannot be based on spite”
He questioned the country’s massive $60 billion debt and failure to implement the Taef Accord, blaming previous governments for the burdens the current government has to stand.
“Is this inheritance something we should be proud of or the cause for strife?” he asked.
Some 53 lawmakers are expected to deliver speeches during the parliamentary session aimed at assessing the government’s performance.
Speaker Nabih Berri warned that he may have to extend the sessions to Saturday should they not be completed by Thursday.

M8 are good at one thing and that is blaming others for all problems and they were a major part of EVERY previous government. On top of that they hate each other. Aoun is full of hate; he hates Berri and Miquati and Jumblat and and...he even hates himself.

...fine... but when we ask you who were the ministers of energy (which is responsible for a great portion of the debt) your memory suddenly fades ya FT... check it out ya ahbal!

"This government succeeded in maintaining stability while other sides sought to target it,”
easy to do when you have the arms and are more powerful than the army itself to maintain or not stability!!! you are the ones who decide that!
so hypocrit.....

This gouvernement is that of the 'Coup d'état' , the one of the black shirts and the killers of Hariri and his companions...We should never forget that and deal with it as though it is a constitutional government getting on with its business as ' usual'. This is how it got to power. This is a Hizbollah government. One day sooner than later, some of its members will have to face justice and be held accountable for their actions....In particular before the International tribunal

Blah blah blah: M8 was operating a drug lab and will not prosecute. M8 ordered spoiled meat from israel and sleared the entry into lebanon and will not investigate. The Shia do not pay electricity and are bankrupting the country because of it. The Hezz are hiding killers wanted by the court. They can shut up now.

There is no need to defend this government that is super bad, mostly because it has the filthy low life scum bags Miqati, Jumblat and the useless ones of a useless president. It suffices to keep exposing the filthier Rafic Syria, his filthy record and his filthy Mafia, as no filth comes even close to the filth of these. In a country that respects its citizens, these crooks and thieves and collaborators with every enemy of Lebanon would have been rotten corpses hanging down trees in a public square. Thank God that the biggest filth of all was barbecued. alla yghame2lo

“We are standing before a plan aimed at monopolizing power and changing Lebanon’s identity.” He's right, Huzb Allah is trying to transform Lebanon into Iran Jr. and reversing the kicking out of the Syrians with the Cedar Revolution.
