Hezbollah doesn't intend to cede Ali al-Taher but open to 'compromise'

Amid conflicting reports about the situation in the Ali al-Taher area, which continues to come under Israeli airstrikes, a prominent Hezbollah source confirmed that the group "has no intention of surrendering the Ali al-Taher hill to the Lebanese Army, the enemy, or any other party.”

“Such a surrender carries significant risks, the most important being that it would embolden the enemy to seize other positions at any cost. Furthermore, this area lies north of the Litani River, and the exclusive right to bear arms is governed by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, which addresses only the area south of the Litani," the source told al-Joumhouria newspaper in remarks published Friday.

The source added: "Ultimately, the enemy could take the hill, but only through a battle, because the culture of surrender and capitulation is not part of the resistance's culture. Moreover, our young men are not expected to commit suicide. Therefore, the matter could be subject to a compromise, the terms of which Lebanon has set, beginning with the most crucial point: a cessation of hostilities and withdrawal."
