Yemen's Houthi rebels reported Israeli strikes on the country's Hodeida port on Tuesday, after Israel's military issued evacuation warnings for the area.

The rebel Al-Masirah television reported "a series of raids by Israeli enemy aircraft on the port of Hodeida", while military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group's air defenses were "currently confronting Israeli enemy aircraft launching an aggression against our country".

The Israeli military had warned it was poised to strike the Houthi-held Yemeni port of Hodeida, urging people and ships in the area to evacuate immediately.

"In the coming hours, a strike will be carried out... in response to military activity by the Houthi terrorist regime. For your safety, we urge everyone in Hodeida port and the vessels anchored there to evacuate the area immediately," the military's Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on X.

The Israeli army later said it struck a Houthi military site.

"A short while ago, the IDF (Israeli military) struck a military infrastructure site belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime at the Hodeida port in Yemen," an army statement said, alleging the Houthis used the port "for the transfer of weapons supplied by the Iranian regime, in order to execute attacks against the State of Israel and its allies."
