Inmate Elias Hassan escaped at dawn Friday from al-Salam hospital in the northern city of Tripoli despite being under a heavy supervision.

However, the National News Agency reported that Hassan fled al-Qobbeh prison at 3:00 am on Friday.

Media reports said that the 26-year-old prisoner was transferred to the hospital last week after a hand grenade that he tried to toss in Tripoli exploded in his hands.

Hassan's hands were amputated in the incident and his legs and face wounded.

Internal Security Forces are currently pursuing the inmate to detain him.

in a country where people have the freedom to throw grenades around like banana peels, i'm not surprised an amputee managed to escape heavy supervision.

Heavy supervision, amputated limbs and wounds in other parts, escaped convict, place Lebanon, and the mockery continues, unabated.
