Russia believes U.S.-led air strikes against jihadists in Syria should be carried out in coordination with Syrian authorities and in accordance with international law, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.
Lavrov was speaking after the United States this week extended an air assault against the Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq to Syria with the support of five Arab countries.

A senior Islamic State group jihadist was killed on Friday in an air strike in eastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
"A coalition warplane fired on a motorbike with two men on it after it left a headquarters" of IS west of Deir Ezzor city in the province of the same name, the head of the Britain-based monitor told AFP.

Jihadists with the Islamic State group have stopped oil extraction from fields in Deir Ezzor province in eastern Syria after U.S.-led strikes targeted refineries, activists told AFP on Friday.

The emir of Qatar has denied accusations that his country funds extremist groups in Syria, while stressing the Gulf state's commitment to the U.S.-led campaign against Islamic State jihadists.
