Two fans were shot to death on their way to a test event Sunday at a World Cup stadium in northeastern Brazil, just two months before the venue hosts matches in the Confederations Cup.
The fans were killed about 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the Arena Castelao in the city of Fortaleza, one of the six venues hosting matches in the Confederations Cup in June and one of the 12 getting ready for next year's World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 49th and 50th goals in all competitions this season as Real Madrid won 3-0 at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, while Barcelona didn't need Lionel Messi to brush aside Real Zaragoza 3-0 and ease closer to the Spanish league title.

Real Madrid assistant boss Aitor Karanka has dismissed suggestions that his side got lucky in Friday's Champions League semifinal draw by being paired with Borussia Dortmund.
Madrid only managed one point from six against the 2011/12 German champions when they met in the group stages earlier this season and Karanka believes they can learn from their 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in the second-leg of the quarterfinals, despite still progressing 5-3 on aggregate.

Germany striker Mario Gomez's agent has hinted of a move away from Bayern Munich after a frustrating season spent mainly warming the bench at the Champions League semifinalists.

Lewis Hamilton roared to his first pole position for Mercedes in qualifying on Saturday for the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, as the warring Red Bulls had a day to forget.
