Lebanon's Middle East Airlines will modify its flight routes over the Eastern Mediterranean region in light of the European air safety warning over potential military strikes on Syria in the coming days, a statement said.

“The conferees discussed the warning issued to airlines by the European Aviation Safety Agency on the need to observe caution in the Eastern Mediterranean region over the possibility of airstrikes on Syria over the coming 72 hours, seeing as there is a risk of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment" for commercial flights, the statement said.

Speaker Nabih Berri has warned of the consequences resulting from any possible military attack at Syria, saying the results will be “devastating for Arab leaders,” the National News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq on Wednesday said Lebanon's security forces are fully prepared for the upcoming parliamentary elections, assuring commitment to the government's decisions in maintaining an “impartial” role towards all political forces.

Ex-minister and Tripoli parliamentary candidate Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi called on Wednesday for “expelling” the Syrian ambassador from Lebanon, and “withdrawing” Lebanon's ambassador from the neighboring country.

A “complicated” general amnesty law has reportedly been “put on the back burner” until after the May 6 legislative elections, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Wednesday.

French President Emmanuel Macron invited Prime Minister Saad Hariri to join him for talks and dinner Tuesday at the Elysee Palace with visiting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Macron's office said.

"Before the official dinner, the three leaders will briefly discuss subjects linked to stability in the Middle East, the fight against terrorism, and economic and cultural cooperation," the French statement said.

Battles for Lebanon's parliamentary elections have brought back political confrontations between the two Druze leaders in Mount Lebanon, leader of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblat and head of the Lebanese Democratic Party, Minister of the Displaced Talal Arslan, Asharq al-Awsat daily reported Tuesday.

Lebanon's foreign ministry issued a statement on Tuesday condemning Israeli violations of Lebanon's airspace, saying a complaint will be filed at the UN Security Council.

The Army Command-Orientation Directorate said on Monday that four Israeli warplanes have breached Lebanon's airspace.

According to the army’s statement, the warplanes violated the Lebanese airspace at 3:25 a.m. flying over the sea to the west of Jounieh, adding that they had flown east over the city of Baalbek and then left the country’s airspace at 3:35 a.m.

Israel has resumed the construction of a controversial cement separation wall between Lebanon's southern border and occupied Palestine amid tight Lebanese and Israeli security measures, the National News Agency reported Monday.
