Gravediggers in a southern Lebanon village prepare tombs for the dead in Israeli strikes during the latest Israel-Hezbollah war, near those killed in the previous conflicts between the foes.

In front of recent graves bearing three huge portraits in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, Shourouk Hariri, 32, wept for her twin brother and volunteer rescuer Ahmad, one of his colleagues, and her uncle, a local civilian.

Moscow supports a deal between the United States and Iran to end the Middle East war, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his Iranian counterpart during a phone call on Wednesday, insisting that Israel must also comply.

"The Russian minister expressed support for the understandings reached through effective mediation by Pakistan and Qatar to de-escalate tensions in the region. The importance of compliance by all parties involved in the armed conflict, including Israel, was emphasized," the Russian foreign ministry said in a read-out of the call.

Iran's military threatened on Tuesday to respond to Israel after strikes in southern Lebanon killed four people despite a deal between Tehran and Washington ending the Middle East war, including in Lebanon.

"If the child-killing army of the Zionist regime does not put an end to its acts of aggression in southern Lebanon, it should await a harsh response from the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran," said the Iranian military's central command Khatam al-Anbiya.

Israeli forces on Wednesday carried out airstrikes on several areas in south Lebanon, state media reported, despite a peace deal in the Middle East war that includes Lebanon.

Lebanon's National News Agency said Israeli warplanes launched raids targeting the Nabatieh al-Fawqa area and the eastern outskirts of neighboring town Kfar Tebnit.

Lebanon said Israeli strikes killed four people in the country's south on Tuesday as Israel said it intercepted Hezbollah rockets and launched raids, despite a U.S.-Iran deal that includes Lebanon.

Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) said Israeli drone strikes targeted two vehicles in the town of Mayfadoun and another in nearby Shukeen, both in the Nabatieh area, "leading to an initial toll of four dead" and others wounded.

Hezbollah's chief on Tuesday thanked Iran's top negotiator for helping stop the "Israeli-American aggression" on Lebanon, after the announcement of a U.S.-Iran deal on ending the Middle East war that includes Lebanon.

Lebanon's president and prime minister on Tuesday discussed preparations for a new round of talks with Israel next week, after the U.S. and Iran announced a peace deal that includes Lebanon.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he had suggested to Israel that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa should deal with Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah seeing as the Israeli campaign was causing too many casualties.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, was "the most important" issue in the peace deal with the United States announced the day before.

Iran's top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will attend the signing in Switzerland of the deal ending the war with the United States, an Iranian deputy foreign minister said on Tuesday.
