Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour was informed on Friday by Syrian authorities that they will hand over to Lebanon the corpses of three fighters killed in Tall Kalakh in November, reported the National News Agency.
The three Lebanese fighters have been identified as Malek al-Hajj Deeb, Abdul Karim Ibrahim, and Hassan Srour.
Later on Friday, the so-called Committee of Families of Martyrs and Missing of Tall Kalakh issued a statement confirming that it receive the bodies of three slain fighters, identifying them as Malek al-Hajj Deeb, Abdul Karim Ibrahim, and Hasan Srour.
“We will receive the bodies of our children at the al-Arida border crossing at 9:00 a.m., before heading to al-Beddawi where we will carry the bodies of martyrs Malek al-Hajj Deeb and Abdul Karim Ibrahim and start marching towards the Abu Ali roundabout, where the coffin of Hasan Srour will join the funeral procession,” said the statement.
“The three bodies will then be taken to al-Mansouri Mosque for inspection and identification,” it added.
The families urged “the friends of the martyrs” to exercise restraint during the funeral.
Syrian authorities handed over recently in two rounds the corpses of seven of the Salafist fighters, including a Palestinian.
While there are conflicting reports on the number of fighters who infiltrated Tall Kalakh, media reports have said that several of them sought refuge with the rebel Free Syrian Army while around three others were arrested by regime troops and will be tried in Damascus.
The fighters were killed in an ambush by Syrian regime forces in the Syrian border town of Tall Kalakh on November 30.
