PM of Australia’s New South Wales in Beirut on Official Visit

The premier of Australia’s New South Wales state, Barry O'Farrell, arrived in Beirut on Sunday at the head of an official delegation for talks with top Lebanese officials.

O’Farrell is scheduled to hold talks with President Michel Suleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri and Premier Najib Miqati during his three-day visit.

Three lawmakers of Lebanese origin - Jean Ajjaqa, Tony Issa and Tomas George - accompanied the prime minister in his visit.

The owner and editor-in-chief of the Australian An-Nahar daily, Answar Harb, was also among the delegation.

O’Farrell’s visit to Beirut comes after Suleiman’s trip in April to Australia where he held talks with top officials, including the New South Wales premier, and members of the Lebanese community.
