Israel's Zamir visits Khiam, says army 'on high alert'

Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir vowed a "strong defense" against Hezbollah as he visited Israeli forces in the occupied southern town of Khiam on Wednesday.

During the visit, Zamir warned Hezbollah that Israeli forces remain on high alert and ready to strike. "We are committed to establishing a strong defense along our borders and safeguarding the security of residents in the north," he said.

"We will not allow Hezbollah to establish terrorist infrastructure in the area. Any attempt by the enemy to entrench its presence, enhance its capabilities, or threaten our northern communities will be met with an immediate and powerful response," Zamir added.

Zamir accused Hezbollah of acting as an Iranian proxy rather than serving national interests: "During the war, Hezbollah has once again proven that it is an arm of Iran, not a Lebanese defender. Its actions have directly harmed the interests of the Lebanese state and its citizens."
