Syrian authorities have thwarted a “terrorist plot” targeting the Homs Refinery orchestrated by a cell affiliated with Hezbollah, the Syrian interior ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry explained in a statement that the security operation led to the arrest of the involved cell members and the seizure of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in their possession that were prepared to target the refinery.
It emphasized that "this operation comes as part of the security services' ongoing efforts to track down terrorist cells, foil their plots, and protect vital facilities and the country's economic assets."
