Report: US asks Beirut to remove Hezbollah from Ali al-Taher as group clings to it

Hezbollah is against handing over the Ali al-Taher ridge to the Lebanese Army in the current period and “according to Resolution 1701, the area north of the (Litani) River is linked to a national defense strategy,” Hezbollah sources told Al-Jadeed television.

The Americans meanwhile asked the Lebanese delegation to the Rome negotiations that the ridge be handed over to the Lebanese Army, Al-Jadeed said.

As for Israel, security sources told the TV network that “the Israeli army has repeatedly tried to advance towards the ridge and is using remotely-controlled robots to avoid putting its troops in danger as happened in Haddatha.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Sunday that Israel has “acted with force in Lebanon” in recent days, noting that it has eliminated “terrorists,” including “on the Ali Taher ridge.”

“I cannot elaborate on this. We are in the midst of a very important operation,” Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting.
