France, KSA and Aoun seek US pressure on Israel

There is constant communication between France and Saudi Arabia to explore means to “support Lebanon’s security and stability and exert diplomatic efforts with the Americans to compel Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon, withdraw and stop escalation on the border,” informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper.

The daily added that President Joseph Aoun is holding talks with U.S. officials to record Lebanon’s rejection of the Israeli attacks and urge the U.S. to press Israel to “withdraw, halt violations and re-activate the ceasefire agreement and the monitoring committee.”

Lebanese political and military officials also contacted members of the Mechanism committee, especially the U.S. and French officers, to inquire about Israel’s latest drone invasion of Lebanon’s airspace and the committee’s inaction toward the Israeli attacks, al-Binaa said.

Media reports meanwhile said that Lebanon has not received a clear proposal regarding the negotiation file but rather various ideas and warning that escalation might return.

“The Americans relayed a message to Lebanese officials saying that if Lebanon does not comply, the option of renewed escalation would be on the table, without that meaning a return to war, but rather the expansion of Israeli strikes to various areas,” the reports said.
