Army troops on Saturday carried out raids in several neighborhoods in the northern city of Tripoli, as part of the security plan which implementation kicked off on Tuesday to restore calm and stability in the North.
"Troops raided the Hara Barranieh and Souq al-Qamh regions in Tripoli,” radio Voice of Lebanon (93.3) said.
VDL reported that fugitive Ahmed Shandab was arrested during the raids.
LBCI television confirmed the news, saying Shandab was held in Hara Barranieh.
The military institution had announced on Wednesday the arrest of 33 people, including 14 Syrians, in Tripoli.
It also seized 15 motorbikes and 10 unlawful cars, in addition to weapons and ammunition.
And on Thursday, troops positioned in the Tripoli neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen near the house of Arab Democratic Party politburo chief Rifaat Eid, who had left Lebanon along with his father, Ali Eid.
The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau also succeeded in arresting Sheikh Musheer Khodr, who is linked to radical cleric Omar Bakri.
Meanwhile on the first day of the plan's implementation on Tuesday, the army succeeded in arresting 75 suspects.
They included 27 Syrians and Palestinians.
It also impounded 91 motorcycles and six vehicles, as well as a number of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.
